Bibliography (in progress)

NB Contributions as part of edited volumes that deal specifically with silence are not listed individually here. Monographs and edited volumes dealing with silence and absence from a linguistic/discourse analysis point of view appear in bold letters. No exact line is drawn (as yet) between silence and secrecy, concealment, deception etc. and there is more literature e.g. on gender- and culture- specific silence; and probably a lot more in languages other than English and German. The current list is only a beginning. If you would like to suggest an addition, please email us.
