We started this blog as a forum and space to document our thoughts about the absent in language, communication and discourse. We were looking for a way to do this which would commit us to a kind of regular exercise, but without the need for it to be based on a proper literature review and/or empirical research.  We are hoping to pool ideas here to identify directions of linguistic and discourse analytic enquiry. Ultimately, we hope to encourage that more (systematic) attention is paid in linguistic research to what is absent in language, discourse, communication and linguistic data.
